A few weeks ago, we called for your participation to make the forgotten pieces from Marie Pohlenz' 'musical friendship album' resound again. Just in time for the festive season, we have received the first contributions.
It does not happen too often that a research institution dealing with manuscripts can call for participation. In September, we had the opportunity to do so: In a joint project with the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Leipzig, CSMC researcher Janine Droese made the ‘musical friendship album’ of the singer and pianist Marie Pohlenz accessible again. This special manuscript contains composition sketches by prominent figures of Leipzig’s 19th century music scene – gems that have long been forgotten (read the full story of this album in English or German).
With your help, we want to make this music resound again. That is why we have called on our musically savvy readers to make use of the transcripts and to send us recordings of the pieces. We have now received the first contributions. Enjoy the little works that have probably not been listened to for more than 150 years.
