Scholarships for the MA programme “Manuscript Cultures”
The Cluster Understanding Written Artefacts is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity for students of the MA programme “Manuscript Cultures”. Parallel to this year’s study application period, we invite applications for 2-year scholarships (992 €/month).
We are looking for students with an excellent academic record who demonstrate exceptional potential and commitment to their field of study.
Selection Criteria
- Successful application for the MA programme “Manuscript Cultures” in 2026,
- proven excellent academic track record,
- commitment to completing the MA programme within 2 years,
- knowledge of working languages relevant to the envisaged MA thesis project,
- integration of the MA programme into your academic career path,
- potential contribution to the Cluster’s research areas.
Candidates from the Global South are especially encouraged to apply. In addition, the selection committee will give due consideration to aspects of equal opportunities, on which you can provide information in the letter of motivation.
Scholarship Details
- Duration: 2 years.
- Monthly value: 992 €
There will be a mid-term evaluation after one year to assess the study progress. The second year is granted pending successful completion of all first-year modules and a report including a roadmap for the MA thesis.
Application and Deadlines
Applicants are asked to submit the following documents by the 31 March 2026 to master.csmc"AT"uni-hamburg.de:
- Motivation letter (1 page): Please explain your interest in the MA programme “Manuscript Cultures” and its relevance for your future career.
- One academic reference letter by a professor or lecturer, or any person who is qualified to evaluate your academic achievements.
Applications that are not complete or received after the deadline will not be considered.
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee based on the eligibility criteria. Shortlisted candidates will subsequently be contacted for an online interview.
