Summer & Winter Schools
The study of written artefacts involves a range of fields of knowledge and requires profound acquaintance with diverse theories, approaches, research methods and practices. Their acquisition cannot be integrated easily into a busy university schedule, and most places do not even offer teaching of relevant smaller research domains. Summer and winter schools have become a valuable solution in this regard, as they offer an intensive short-term training in small groups for both students and scholars.
The Cluster of Excellence ‘Understanding Written Artefacts’ regularly supports the organisation of international summer or winter schools of one to three weeks. The events will take place in the facilities of the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures (CSMC), which provide an excellent infrastructure as well as administrative support.
