Kairouan Manuscript Project Announces Partnership with the Cologne Institute of Conservation Sciences

The Institute will cover consultancy fees of research associate Marlen Börngen, who is currently preparing a course on treating iron gall ink corrosion in the collections of the National Laboratory for the Preservation and Conservation of Parchment and Manuscripts in Raqqada, Kairouan, Tunisia.

The Arabic Manuscripts from Kairouan in Historical Context

On 16 June, Dr Jonathan Brockopp — professor of history, religious studies, and philosophy at Pennsylvania State University and member of the the KMP leadership team — will present a lecture entitled ‘Archive and Historical Memory: The Arabic Manuscripts from Kairouan in Historical Context’.

Hamburg and Lille Workshops on Kairouani Manuscript Cultures

The Raqqada Collection contains exceptionally valuable early Islamic manuscripts. A two-part workshop will focus on new research into the texts contained in these manuscripts and the scholarly communities that produced and preserved them. Registration for the workshop is now open.
