As part of the ICDAR Conference 2021, the first edition of the Workshop on Computational Paleography will take place this September at the University of Lausanne. The programme for the event has now been published.
From 5 to 10 September, the University of Lausanne will host the 16th International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR 2021). Included: a workshop on Computational Paleography on 7 September, co-organised by Hussein Mohammed, Principal Investigator of the project Pattern Recognition in 2D Data from Digitised Images and Advanced Aquisition Techniques at CSMC.
The programme for the half-day workshop is now available online.
The goal of this workshop is to bridge the gap between the different research fields analysing handwritten scripts in ancient artefacts. It is mainly targeting (but not limited to) computer scientists, natural scientists and humanists involved in the study of ancient writing systems (scripts and their components) as well as their material (characteristics of the physical inscribed objects). By fostering discussion between the three communities, it aims to foster future interdisciplinary collaborations that will tackle actual research questions on ancient manuscripts.
