31 July 2020, by Webmaster
The Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures welcomes back Professor Dr Ronny Vollandt as he resumes his position as Petra Kappert Fellow.
At his home university, the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany, Professor Dr Vollandt teaches Jewish Studies. He currently (co-)directs a number of projects dealing with Jewish manuscripts in the Near East, e.g. a cataloguing project of the Arabic and Judaeo-Arabic manuscripts in the Firkovitch Collections (https://www.naher-osten.uni-muenchen.de/forschung/arches-projekt/index.html) as well as a project on Bible translations into Arabic (https://biblia-arabica.com/).
During his fellowship that initially started in the spring of 2020, Professor Dr Vollandt will focus on Saadiah Gaon's Arabic translation of the Tora, known as Tafsir, particularly the question of how this text was transmitted, read and copied among also non-Jewish readers.
Professor Dr Vollandt can be contacted via email at ronny.vollandt"AT"lmu.de.
We look forward to his contributions.
