Dr. Mahdi Jampour received his BSc degree in computer science from the University of Kerman, in 2006, his MSc degree in artificial intelligence from the Islamic Azad University of Mashhad (IAUM), Mashhad, Iran, and his PhD degree in computer vision from the Graz University of Technology (TU-Graz), Austria, in 2016. He was a postdoctoral fellow with the Iran Telecommunication Research Center (ITRC) by received Iran's National Elites Foundation (INEF) Award. He was also awarded Shahid Chamran and Shahid Kazemi-Ashtiani awards from Iran's National Elites Foundation (INEF) in 2017 and 2019, respectively. Dr Jampour was also awarded a Marshal Plan Fellowship from the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation to visit the University of Massachusetts at Boston in 2015, a full PhD scholarship from the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) in 2011, and the best MSc Thesis Award from the IAUM in 2009.
Dr. Jampour is an Assistant Professor at Quchan University of Technology since 2017 and has been a Research Associate at the University of Hamburg since 2023. He was also the president of the board of directors at the Iranian Society of Machine Vision and Image Processing (ISMVIP) during 2020-2023. His research interests include computer vision areas, particularly, deep learning including recognition, detection, verification, and identification. He is an editor for the International Journal of Pattern Recognition and Artificial Intelligence (IJPRAI) and the Journal of Universal Computer Science (J.UCS).
