Psychological Counselling Services for UHH Students
UHH offers students coaching and workshops on a variety of topics, including dealing with procrastination, making decisions, dealing with test and performance anxiety, public speaking and presenting, writing, time management, and stress management and mindfulness techniques. UHH students who would like to receive psychological counselling can make an appointment here: https://www.psychologische-beratung.uni-hamburg.de/en/startseite-english/. UHH's psychological counselling services include:
- initial orientation meeting (focused on assessing the situation and determining possible next steps);
- open consultation hour (on Mondays, 11 am - 12 pm, Alsterterrasse 1, 4th Floor - please register before 11 am for a short (10-15 min.); individual counselling session);
- group counselling on specific topics (comprising 6-8 90-120 min. sessions; topics include procrastination, stress management, facing stigma, social anxiety, perfectionism, ADHD);
- individual counselling sessions (in Arabic / English / French / German / Spanish);
- individual and group counselling for students with mental illness (HOPES)
- as well as a variety of workshops and coachings on mental health topics

The Studierendenwerk’s counsellors, located at Grindelallee 9, 3rd Floor, can also provide help identifying and accessing relevant counselling services in Hamburg. Psychology students provide counselling to students through the general students’ committee (“AStA”) every Friday, 2 - 6 pm via Zoom (https://uni-hamburg.zoom.us/j/93565713650; passcode: 85400567, no appointment needed). AStA counsellors do not provide psychotherapy, but can help find orientation and self-clarification. They can be contacted at psych-beratung"AT"asta.uni-hamburg.de.
