Academic Writing in English

The Graduate School regularly offers courses on Academic English Writing, Writing Strategies and Presentation Techniques specifically geared towards international researchers.

German Course

The German Class teaches researchers German for communicating in everyday life situations in Hamburg. It is organized by the CSMC and offered by the Faculty of Humanities. It is open to all international researchers from the Faculty of Humanities.

Good Research Practice

In training doctoral researchers, we follow the standards of Good Research Practice as outlined by DFG’s Code of Conduct. We train doctoral researchers at least one a year with a 1-day workshop on Good Research Practice (GRP).

Ethical and Responsible Research at CSMC provides further orientation. The Ethics Committee can be contacted for questions by any member of CSMC.

Research Data Management (RDM) Trainings

Since 2023, the Center for Sustainable Research Data Management has developed and offered 1-day trainings for doctoral researchers. The trainings are hosted by all of Hamburg’s Clusters of Excellence in alternation. The last training on RDM at the Cluster UWA was offered in November 2023.
