Hamburg Archives, Libraries, and Museums (HALM)
The CSMC with its Cluster of Excellence ‘Understanding Written Artefacts’ is part of a larger network of researchers and institutions dedicated to the research and safeguarding of written artefacts. On a local level, this refers particularly to the network the cluster has developed since 2017 together with Hamburg Archives, Libraries and Museums (HALM) – a forum to discuss research and events around Hamburg’s written collections.
Since its development, a range of projects have developed out of this network, characterised by close collaboration between institutions and individual researchers. They include, for example, the work of the CSMC Mobile Lab in the fields of material analysis and conservation training together with curators, joint third-party funded projects, exhibitions, joint conferences, and hands-on workshops, collaborative teaching, and further research activities and formats of knowledge exchange.
