As part of a collaborative project, the Mobile Lab supported the non-invasive material and technological analysis of selected drawings attributed to Leonardo da Vinci and his workshop. CSMC researchers carried out specific parts of the investigation using portable analytical instruments on site, complementing further examinations conducted by the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Together, these approaches enabled detailed insights into paper structure, drawing media, and working processes while preserving the integrity of the fragile works.

The analyses formed part of a broader research effort combining scientific and art historical approaches to better understand attribution, technique, and workshop practices. The results were integrated into the exhibition, offering visitors additional perspectives on the materiality and making of the drawings.

The findings have also been published in the accompanying exhibition catalogue, ensuring their accessibility beyond the exhibition itself.

This collaboration highlights the contribution of the CSMC Mobile Lab to interdisciplinary research in the context of museum exhibitions.
