The main goal of the LDT is to analyse images of writing supports in order to detect lines (such as sieve imprints or papyri fibres) and estimate their density. These detected lines form a pattern, which can be used as a distinctive feature of the writing support.
The main tasks achieved by this software tool are:
- Detecting lines in pre-selected orientation.
- Calculating min and max spacing, and density within a pre-specified length.
- Providing evaluation of detection accuracy for images with ground-truth information.
- Generating visualisation of detection histogram for manual inspection.
In order to download the Line Detection Tool to your computer, please follow these steps:
- Download the ".zip" file, then extract it to a folder in your local computer.
- You can run the LDT application by double-clicking the executable file "Line_Detection_Tool " in your extracted folder. It might require some administrative privileges depending on your system settings.
- A command window will start, then the LDT will run in your default internet browser. Although it uses your internet browser, it is an offline application running on your local computer, you do not need internet connection.
- When you finish using LDT, you can simply close the command window.
