Digital Lunch Seminar Series
Winter 2023/2024
Convenor: Markus Fischer
Two researchers, one hour, one topic: the Digital Lunch Seminar Series highlights concrete examples of cooperation between the humanities and the natural sciences at CSMC. This winter semester, the series is back with four lectures.
On 18 December, Marina Creydt (chemistry) and Jörg Fromm (biology) kick off the third edition of the series with a presentation on examinations of wood in the context of artefact analyses. After the Christmas break, the second lecture will be held on 15 January by Agnes Weiß (professor for Food Microbiology at the Hamburg School of Food Science) and Doreen Schröter (coordinator of cultural heritage projects at the CSMC). They will look at the reasons for the deterioration of written artefacts and how to prevent it. One week later, on 22 January, José Maksimczuk (spokesperson of Research Field G: ‘Keeping Note(book)s’) and Olivier Bonnerot (spokesperson of Research Field K: ‘Selecting Materials’) provide ‘An Interdisciplinary Analysis of the Greek Manuscripts Vat. Reg. 116 + Ambr. D54’. In the final lecture on 29 January, Frank Steinicke (professor for Human-Computer Interaction at the Department of Informatics) and Julia Nantke (professor for Modern German literary studies with a focus on digital humanities) for written artefacts will talk about the ‘Multimodal Modelling of Cultural Artefacts in Digital Spaces’.
Schedule: Mondays, 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
