The position is for a full-time, fixed-term postdoctoral researcher for a period of three years. It is intended for an independent research project with a focus on written artefacts in precolonial Mesoamerica, and the project should fit the broader comparative research profile of UWA.

The role includes active participation in the cluster’s research programme and its collaborative activities. This involves taking part in research meetings, contributing to academic publications, helping to organise scholarly events, and supporting as well as developing existing cooperations and relevant networks.

Applicants are expected to have an excellent university degree in a relevant field, such as in Mesoamerican Studies, Archaeology, Anthropology, History, Art History, Archaeometry, Ethnology, or a related discipline, demonstrating your expertise in the study of precolonial Mesoamerica. A doctorate is required, or the PhD thesis must have been submitted by the application deadline. Fluency in both English and Spanish, written and spoken, is also required.

A strong interest in the materiality of written artefacts is essential, as is an interest in interdisciplinary collaboration across the humanities and at the interfaces between the humanities, natural sciences, and computer science.
