Vacant Research Associate Position

We invite applications for a Research Associate to join our raduate School as a PhD student and to participate in the Research Fields 'Multigraphic Written Artefacts' or 'Multilingual Written Artefacts'.
The position is part-time (75 % of standard work hours per week) and fixed-term, with a duration of three years (1 May 2023 until 30 April 2026). The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Cluster’s Graduate School and participate in research colloquia, lectures and workshops. Furthermore, the position includes active engagement in the research fields 'Formating Multigraphic Written Artefacts' and/or 'Exploring Multilingual Written Artefacts', which in turn offer a great opportunity of working in an inspiring interdisciplinary team and to join the collaborative research activities of the Cluster.
Requirements include a university degree in a relevant field. A degree in Iranian Studies (Ancient/Middle Iranian Philology, Religious Studies) is preferred, ideally with a focus on Zoroastrianism, Zoroastrian Scribes and/or Scribal Practices during the Safavid Period. Furthermore, candidates should possess expertise in manuscriptology, in palaeography and/or in Iranian philology (Avestan, Middle Persian and New Persian), experience in dealing with ancient written artefacts, very good knowledge of written and spoken English, language skills in Avestanor Middle Persian and New Persian, experience in interdisciplinary work, and the ability to work independently as a researcher as well as to work in a team.
Candidates must apply with a project proposal (in English) outlining their research interests on max. 5 pages (plus bibliography) including a brief summary, literature review, a detailed project description and a 3-year schedule.
