We invite applications for two research associate positions, one for a self-designed doctoral project, the other one as part of the project 'Similarity Measurement of Visual Patterns in Written Artefacts’.
The first position, which includes enrolment in the Cluster’s Graduate School, is part-time (75 percent of standard working hours per week) and fixed-term, with a duration of three years. Applicants are expected to submit a project proposal, which should demonstrate a strong interest in cooperating beyond disciplinary boundaries, especially across the humanities, natural sciences, and computer sciences. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to) multilingual or multiscriptual written artefacts, written artefacts and provenance studies, written artefacts and sustainable conservation work and management practices, and the history of science related to written artefacts.
The starting date is 1 January 2023, applications must be submitted until 31 August 2022. More information on how to apply is available here.
The second position is within the project ‘Similarity Measurement of Visual Patterns in Written Artefacts’ in the Research Field ‘Artefact Profiling’ at the Cluster of Excellence. The position is full-time and fixed-term, with a duration of three years. Applicants are expected to research, implement, and test various deep-learning approaches and loss functions for different computer vision tasks such as classification, detection, and clustering. This involves good theoretical and practical knowledge in machine learning, deep learning, and computer vision algorithms.
The starting date is 1 October 2022, applications must be submitted until 6 September 2022. More information on how to apply is available here.
