From today, students can apply for our one-year MA programme 'Manuscript Cultures' again. The programme is open to students from a wide range of backgrounds. Applications must be submitted until 31 March.
The course conveys central topics in the field of general manuscript research combined with specific skills. It promotes the independent, critical, and analytical work with manuscripts. Students will learn how to conduct cultural and scientific examinations of the texts, images, notes, and diagrams contained in the manuscripts, including scientific material analyses. They will develop creative approaches to solving complex scientific and scholarly questions. The range of manuscript cultures covered includes Asian, African, and European cultures.
The programme is open to students with a wide range of backgrounds with a first qualifying degree (BA/Mag. Art./Diplom from a German or recognised foreign University) in one of the subjects (or a related one) taught in the programme. These include African Studies and Linguistics, Ethiopian Studies, Ancient History, Art History, Assyriology, Austronesian Studies, Classical Archaeology, Coptology, Greek Studies, Historical Musicology, Indology, Islamic Studies, Japanese Studies, Jewish Philosophy and Religion, Medieval and Modern History, Sinology, Thai Studies, Turkology, and Vietnamese Studies.
Anyone who is interested in applying for the programme is welcome to attend an online Q&A session, which will be held on Thursday, 23 February 2023, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm. To participate, please register here.
