The Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures is happy to announce the publication of the first edition of the newly-started Artefact of the Month (AoM). For this special occasion, Cécile Michel, Principal Investigator at the Cluster of Excellence ‘Understanding Written Artefacts’ at CSMC and Director of Research at the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), has been interviewed on the topic of a very special ancient clay tablet written in cuneiform.
In every edition of Artefact of the Month, a new expert in the field of written artefacts shares the fascinating and unique stories behind a particular object in a compelling and approachable fashion. Editorial duties are overseen by Wiebke Beyer and Karin Becker with the assistance of Kristen Rau. This first edition as well as all future subsequent ones will be collected in the AoM archive.
AoM is the successor of manuscript of the month, a publication with a similar, albeit narrower thematic focus. A full archive of all 72 editions can be accessed here.
