11 March 2020, by Webmaster
We welcome Professor Dr Ronny Vollandt as the new Petra Kappert Fellows at the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures.
Professor Dr Vollandt teaches Jewish Studies at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität. He is currently (co-)directing a number of projects dealing with Jewish manuscripts in the Near East, e.g. a cataloguing project of the Arabic and Judaeo-Arabic manuscripts in the Firkovitch Collections (https://www.naher-osten.uni-muenchen.de/forschung/arches-projekt/index.html/) and a project on the Bible translations into Arabic (https://biblia-arabica.com/)
During his fellowship he will be working on Saadiah Gaon's Arabic translation of the Tora, known as Tafsir, and in particular how this text was transmitted, read and copied also among non-Jewish readers.
He has taken up office at Wa 28, room 4011. You may reach him at ronny.vollandt"AT"lmu.de.
We look forward to his contributions.
