Toba Batak exhibition opens at the MARKK

“The Power of Writing” opens its doors to the public at the MARKK in Hamburg today. Jointly curated by the CSMC and MARKK, the exhibition illuminates the manuscript culture of the Toba Batak people of North Sumatra. The artefacts on display cover a wide range of manuscripts made of tree bark and bamboo as well as various other written pieces serving a magical or medical purpose.
