We are looking for a research associate with exclusively teaching duties in Assyriology, starting on 1 October 2026. The position is permanent and part-time at 75% of the regular weekly working hours.
The core responsibilities consist of teaching services, with a teaching load of 12 semester hours per week. Duties include delivering courses in Assyriology for bachelor’s and master’s programmes, preparing teaching materials, selecting and analysing literature for course preparation, advising and supervising students on presentations and term papers within one’s own courses, designing exams, and grading them.
Candidates are expected to hold a university degree relevant to the position, specifically in Assyriology, Ancient Near Eastern Studies, or a closely related field. Proven teaching experience in Assyriology is required, including instruction in languages as well as historical or cultural-historical seminars. Experience working with original manuscripts is considered desirable.
