After 2024, ENCI has now visited the Museum of Anatolian Civilisations for the second time. During the nearly two weeks spent on site, the research team was also visited by Sibylle Katharina Sorg, the German Ambassador to Ankara, who showed great interest in both the technical and scholarly dimensions of the project.
Following this, the team and the device continued to the Archaeological Museum in Kayseri, about 350 kilometres southeast of the capital. There, the researchers continued the scans at a high frequency. In addition to clay tablets, they also examined ceramics and clay objects such as cups, small pots, and figurines. A glass figurine from the Hellenistic period, an alabaster idol, golden earrings, corroded ancient coins, and many very small engraved gemstones were also placed in the scanning chamber.
While the next destination now is a return to Hamburg, ENCI’s upcoming deployment is already scheduled: in December, the team will continue their work in Jena.
