New Faces at CSMC

At the beginning of the summer semester, we welcome two new Principal Investigators, a doctoral student, and our first guest professor for 'Women in Manuscript Cultures' at CSMC.
Elena Chepel joins the Cluster this April for six months. She is the first researcher to be appointed to the guest professorship ‘Women in Manuscript Cultures’. Currently based at Universität Wien, where she holds the position of senior postdoctoral researcher, she is an expert for Greek papyrology, Hellenistic and Roman Egypt, ancient religion and ritual, and Greek drama and performance culture.

Marco Heiles is back at CSMC. He is a graduate of our Graduate School, where he completed his dissertation on ‘Multiple-text-manuscripts in Medieval German Scientific Literature. Studied on the Example of Geomantic Manuscripts of the late 15th Century’ in 2018. Most recently, he worked as a Research Associate at RWTH Aachen. He is now back at the Cluster to become the Principal Investigator of a project on ‘Magical written artefacts in late-medieval German instructional literature’.

Sandro Tskhvedadze has joined our Graduate School to pursue a PhD project on ‘Comparative Structural Patterns of the Weekday Lection Patterns in Greek Lectionaries and Georgian “Annual Pericopaes from Gospels”’, which will be supervised by Christian Brockmann and Jost Gippert. Before coming to Hamburg, he completed his BA and MA at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Márton Vér has joined the Cluster as a Research Associate to pursue a project on ‘The Cultural History of Uyghur Literacy in Light of Multilingual and Multiscriptual Manuscripts. A Case Study of the Secular Documents’. Previously, he was Interim Professor for Turkology and Central Asian Studies at Georg August Universität Göttingen.
