The organisers of the ICDAR 2021 Workshop on Computational Paleography welcome submissions of original, previously unpublished work that is relevant to the Topics of this workshop, including work on on-going projects presenting preliminary, mid-term or pilot data. Applicants may choose between two submission formats:
- a short-paper (max. 8 pages) submission and a short presentation for on-going projects presenting datasets, final or preliminary results as well as innovative methodologies and tools;
- an abstract (1 page) and a short presentation for new projects based on challenging material and research questions requiring interdisciplinary collaborations
Please note that submissions must be handed in by May 17, 2021. Submitted papers will be peer-reviewed and accepted submissions will be published with ICDAR proceedings in the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. The workshop itself is scheduled for September 7, 2021 and will be held in Lausanne Switzerland.

The workshop aims is to bridge the gap between the different research fields analysing handwritten scripts in ancient artefacts. It particularly focuses on (but is not limited to) computer scientists, natural scientists and scholars from the humanities involved in the study of ancient writing systems (scripts and their components) as well as their material (characteristics of the physical inscribed objects). By fostering discussion between these three fields, the workshop aims to facilitate future crossdisciplinary collaborations on ancient manuscripts.
