3D Scanning
Eric Werner
In general, 3D scanning is the process of capturing a real-world representation of an object and creating a digital 3D representation of it. Special hardware such as cameras or laser scanners is used to collect multiple data points from the surface of the object. These data points are then processed and assembled into a 3D model, which can, depending on the use-case, be used for various purposes, such as computer-aided design (CAD), surface analysis or interactive desktop or as virtual reality applications.
