Overview
Artefact profiling adds to the information retrieved from fields such as codicology, paleography, art history, textual criticism, and text editing to date, locate, or authenticate written artefacts, amongst other activities. Such an approach can also assist the activities of cataloguing, conservation, and preservation. Additionally, it offers insights into the economic and cultural contexts in which raw materials and goods, such as wood or animal skins, have been produced, used, and traded.
