Teaching at Schools
Our teaching starts within the traditional university framework where we run for instance the international MA Manuscript Cultures and a wide range of winter and summer schools. In addition, our researchers offer courses for schoolchildren of different age groups. Starting in primary school, they introduce them to different writing cultures in a playful way and show them what it is like to learn how to write in these cultures. For older pupils, we offer hands-on sessions that give them an idea of it means to do research on written artefacts: together with experts from our artefact labs, they get to explore the methods of cross-disciplinary research by means of concrete examples. Through regular courses offered by the colleagues in our branch office in Kathmandu, Nepal, we also introduce pupils to the basics of preservation methods and give them an opportunity to actively engage with the cultural heritage of their communities.
