Preservation measures for the manuscript collections in the Āśā Saphūkuthi (Āśā Archives) and the Tribhuvan University Central Library (TUCL) are currently in place in Kathmandu. As has how now been discovered, the TUCL manuscript collection contains not only manuscripts on paper, but even some palm-leaf manuscripts. This suggests that the collection could be older than previously assumed. Staff are currently working on a more precise overview of and additional information on the materials used as well as the age of the manuscript collection.
‘Preserving the Written Cultural Heritage of Nepal’ enjoys generous support by the German Foreign Office and the Gerda Henkel Foundation.
