Preservation measures for the manuscript collection at Tribhuvan University Central Library began on 5 January 2021. The work is a joint effort between the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures and Tribhuvan University Central Library, Kathmandu as part of the project ‘Preserving the Written Cultural Heritage of Nepal’ with generous support by the German Foreign Office and the Gerda Henkel Foundation.
The manuscript collection at TUCL dates back to approximately between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries and is of great value not only to Nepalese history and culture, but also in the broader context of Central Asian and South Asian culture at large.
