Project planning in Kathmandu

Prof. Dr Michael Friedrich, Director of CSMC, and Prof. Dr Columba Stewart, Director of HMML visited the National Archives and Kaiser Library, Kathmandu. They inspected the current state of preservation of the manuscripts and documents and held meetings with the directors of both institutions.

Nepal Project Hands Over Digitised Documents to the National Archives
For decades, a German-Nepalese initiative captured thousands of manuscripts from Nepal’s written heritage on microfilm. Still, more than 20 years after the project's completion, the National Archives lacked access to some of the documents. With the help of CSMC, the gap has now been closed.
